I find it a shame that this subforum in particular is has been dead for a long time. If workshops will no longer be occurring on the FWG at all, are there any plans from anyone to host them via Discord possibly? Or does anyone have experience with furry-centered workshops hosted elsewhere? I don’t participate on many websites or social media, and while I can do a web search for ‘furry writing workshop’ I’ve admittedly lost a lot of faith in the reliability of search results and am very leery of being tricked into dumping money into courses that aren’t worth it, so if anyone can vouch for a particular program that would be useful.
It’s in beta right now, but I think workshops are eventually part of the plan for Sofawolf Academy:
Oxfurred comma was in 2022, and still has all its videos up on Twitch! I’m still really proud of the panel I did on editing.
Also, I recommend joining the discord or telegram, not these forums. They are much more active.
The various furry conventions host talks. Usually, they’re more lecture format than workshop, but there’s often good information to be had. I know I did a round of “How to write a great story” then a round of “How to write a terrible story” then this past year I’ve been doing talks on “You gotta be nuts to publish furry fiction” in my con circuit. I’ll be MFF again this year in December, and I will sit in on a Writing 101 panel, but my main talk will be a reading to promote my new book, not something particularly educational.
I am rather active in the discord, don’t worry, I’m catching everything there too.
