Furry Writers' Guild Forum

not new to writing, but new to this place

Hi all!

I’m KJ. I’ve been selling (human) speculative short fiction since 2002, but, while I have circled the edges of this fandom for some time (and have gone to a few very excellent fur cons), I have yet to write anything for specifically furry publishers. I’m interested in doing so, though, so that’s why I’m here (:

My non-furry fiction has appeared in places such as F&SF, Daily Science Fiction, Nature, Beneath Ceaseless Skies, and more, and I’ve been reprinted in The Year’s Best Dark Fantasy and Horror 2014 (from Prime Books) and The Best Horror of the Year, Volume Six (from Night Shade Books). Much of my previously published fiction is collected and reprinted in the e-book omnibuses, “In Pieces” and “Under Stars,” which you can find via my author pages at Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/author/kjkabza) and Smashwords (https://www.smashwords.com/profile/view/KJKabza).

Welcome! I’ve just had a browse through some of your shorter works - they’re very good. And “How the Snake Got the Fork in His Tongue” is definitely furry

And I loved “Rowling in the Year 3000”.

Greets!

Welcome!

Hello and welcome!

Hi and welcome to the forums!

Thanks for the welcome, all!

Huskyteer: Thanks for your kind words–I’m glad you enjoyed some of my work. Stories like “How the Snake Got the Fork in His Tongue” are an example of what I mean by “have circled the edges of this fandom for some time”. I have a handful or so of published works that would be considered furry (including the sale to F&SF that I used to apply to the FWG, “The Color of Sand,” which features, among other things, a tribe of talking sand cats), but all of them have been published by more mainstream fantasy or science fiction markets and not furry-specific ones.

Ryffnah: ROAR 7 is on my radar (:

Sweet, another horror writer! Also congrats on all those sales, that’s a great pedigree, especially winding up TWO Years Best books.

Howdy! I hope your journey here is a pleasant one! :3

Hey KJ, glad to see you made it!
