Furry Writers' Guild Forum

Meet the Starlit Gindo... What's a Gindo?

Hello everyone! I can say with much enthusiasm that I am excited to be here. My name is Apollo Starlight, and I’m a non-guild writer by hobby that dabbles in a lot of fantasy aspects. I heard about the FWG from Fangs and Fonts, the literary podcast that has been my inspiration to get back into writing.

My writing interests began at the end of middle school, where I learned that I had a passion for writing fiction. It was interesting, since I hated writing before, yet that assignment was what started me into loving the art of writing (And yes, I still have that original piece, in all of it’s embarrassing glory). From there, I went into a writing club in high school for a few years, and wrote along the side, filling up a solid 2in folder that I’ve managed to keep with me today.

From there, my writing has sorta waned off with more adult life tasks pulling me away. Yet, since a recent move into a pretty rural area, my free time has been opened enough to begin writing once more. While one of my biggest issues is keeping on a single idea to write through and through (Oh, the many ideas I’ve started yet never finished), I feel like having a peer group will help me get through a lot of that hesitation to write. I have two writing ideas in mind right now, a short story and a trilogy novel, which I hope become my main ideas when writing here.

On the furry aspect of things, I’ve been a little tossed around fursona wise. I was a dragon in my starting days in the fandom, from around middle school all the way up to my college years. Since then, I’ve changed, yet I was a little wish-washy on what I wanted to be. I used a fennec/husky as a placeholder, until I uncovered the wonderful art that is Keihound. A race she’s given permission to freely use, called a gindo, had many of the aspects I was looking for in a fursona, and felt like I connected to it much better. So alas, that is where I stand.

Because of that switch, I’ve recently had to go through a round of account changes in the like, so I apologies in advance for anything that’s missing or plain. I don’t even have a proper avatar yet, so instead I simply attached the race guide into my signature and hope it will be enough for now. I’ll leave this here just in case the signature ends up having issues.

And… that’s about it! As you can tell I’m very talkative and enthusiastic when I have the chance, and I love to interact and socialize with other people. I want to thank FWG for letting even non-members have a place to explore their creative passions, and I hope I will be able to be part of a wonderful literary community.

With many thanks,

-Apollo Starlight
