A nice little retrospective here on the Planet of the Apes franchise (both the novel and the films):
By the way, has anyone else seen Dawn of the Planet of the Apes? I really enjoyed it, particularly that there were more shades of gray to the story and characters than just the simple kind of ‘apes good/humans bad’ trap that would have been easy to fall into. I’m surprised I haven’t seen more discussion of it in furry circles – or at least the ones I’m part of or keep tabs on, anyway.
Just brought it up in the chat box XD Spirit and I are debating seeing it in the $2. Neither of us were huge fans of the original franchise (though we both found it entertaining), though Rise was very interesting. I was just dissappointed how they left the humans relatively underdeveloped and toward the end made them feel more like a McGuffin than actual characters >.<
