Heh, I use the ‘sandwich technique’ for a lot of things. I learned the term from a motorcycling instructor, who called it the ‘shit sandwich’ 
Yeah, the sandwich technique is pretty well known in terms of critiquing generally.
I learned it from back when I was in fine arts. Unfortunately not a lot of people used it.
I still try to do it when I do my reviews.
