Furry Writers' Guild Forum

Friday/Dandin here!

Hi, I’m Friday (go by Dandin on several forums, hence the split name). I’m a writer person and I mostly write about loss, discrimination, and survival, but I focus on the rays of hope that spring from it. I try to focus on the incredible things people can do, and try to show just how strong we really can be.

Glad to meet you all, can’t wait to see how things go!

http://www.furaffinity.net/user/dandin/ (Since I’ve been asking other people for theirs like every post >.>)

(Things people can do?) People? Or anthros? Do you write about human interaction with anthros?

Anthros are very much just people in my work; nothing more, nothing less. It’s just a shell I wrap around a character to make them more readable. Occasionally, I’ll use it with the idea of ‘speciesism’ to parallel a form of discrimination in our world, so I can write about the issue without being preachy.

The use of anthros as another form of discrimination is actually a widely underdeveloped tool in furry writing. I mean, our society will use any excuse to discriminate against another, so why would an anthro society mirroring human society be any different?

Anyhow, glad to see you here and hope to see more from you in the future.

I find it hilarious that you apparently couldn’t decide which username to go with, so you just went with both.

Indecisiveness causes me to panic and choose both options. This has only gotten me into trouble a couple of times >.>

It’s a win on your part, Din!

I’ll start calling you Fridin.

Or Danday. “I’m just Fridin and Danday!”

“Uhm, do you mean ‘fine and dandy?’”

“Nope!”

Dan Day?

Doesn’t that sound like a superhero’s alter ego?

“And the Pulitzer goes to Lois Lane and Dan Day!”

It’s just a dapper and dandy name XD

Truth is it’s the name of a mouse from the Redwall series. When I was first joining furry sites, it seemed like a good alter-ego. Then I actually created my fursona, but a few of my screen names were stuck on Dandin, so I just roll with it XD

My mate brought up a point last night. Why the name ‘Friday’?

The name just wouldn’t shake. I tried a full name, a real name, nicknames, and ‘Friday’ just stuck and wouldn’t be ignored. It works; I’m generally a cheerful guy and everyone celebrates Friday.

Downsides include Rebecca Black references made everywhere.
