For-Charity furry works?

I have a question, and I think this is the best place to post it, so here goes…

I’ve had one of my stories accepted for an anthology, the proceeds of which go to tsunami relief in Japan. I found working on that story to be very rewarding, as a human being if not financially. So on one of my furry projects, I am thinking about splitting any profits I might see (if it ever gets published!) with a big cat refuge. This is all highly hypothetical right now, as I haven’t even finished the project, much less found a publisher.

But it has me curious – has anyone every worked on a for-charity project? Have any of the furry publishers done a charity anthology, or at least would be willing to split profits in that fashion?

Oh, and perhaps once the annual guild anthology is more established, perhaps FWG might consider also doing an occasional for-charity anthology?

Any thoughts on for-charity writing would be appreciated!

I know there have been a bunch of things involving con books that have been done for charities, but as far as other furry anthologies that have had charity profits I’m not quite sure.

We could definitely look into doing a charity project in the future. I haven’t done a lot of charity work, so afraid I can’t be much more help.

I have a story in ‘Blood Types’ where all the proceeds went to The Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

It was a fun anthology to submit to, and I really do like the idea that my work is in anthology that will (hopefully) help people.
If the FWG did something like it, I would be excited for it, but I think the guild would have to grow a fair bit before something like this would be possible.

The Rainfurrest anthologies are all charity anthologies, and there have been three of those:

Stories of Camp Rainfurrest
Tails of Clockwork World
Dancing in the Moonlight

Next year’s theme is cyberpunk.

I was just wondering a little while ago if the guild would ever launch any charity projects. I don’t know how feasible that is or will be, but it seems to me something worthwhile to which we should aspire.

I definitely think that we could launch a charity project in the future, though as Voice said, we need to get ourselves established first. Once that happens, we should be able to open up larger opportunities to write. I know that a lot of larger cons do charity events; it’s quite possible that we could launch a title to sell at said con, the proceeds of which go towards the charity. I’m not sure exactly how the one for RF works, not having been there and not knowing much about charity events, but yeah.
Future ideas, definitely.

I donated all my profits from 2013 sales to the Cat Rescue Network.

For two reasons. It was a good thing to do for a cause that means a lot to me personally. And it helped to focus the marketing campaign.

But I don’t know how many sales it may have driven, or have any way to measure that.
