Book covers

I have someone that will be helping me with covers for my novel and things I plan to sell. Is there sources of templates or information for various book covers?

I need know both digital requirements and traditional requirements. I hope to get my novel published traditionally first, then digital. Any and all leads are helpful ;).

CreateSpace (Amazon’s POD printer) has a template generator on their site here: https://www.createspace.com/Help/Book/Artwork.do Enter the book size you want and number of pages and it’ll spit out a png and PDF you can use as a guide. Even if you don’t use CS as your printer in the end, it’s a decent guide.

Here’s info from Kindle’s website on image sizes for their covers:

The ideal size of your eBook cover art is a height/width ratio of 1.6:1. This means that for every 1,000 pixels in width, the image should be 1,600 pixels in height. To ensure the best quality for your image, particularly on high definition devices, the height of the image should be at least 2,500 pixels. Ideal dimensions for cover files are 2,560 x 1,600 pixels.

Note: The minimum image size allowed is 1,000 x 625 pixels. The maximum image size allowed is 10,000 x 10,000 pixels.

Hope that helps some.

That’s a lot of great help. I have the numbers I needed so I can pass them to my writer friend.
