Furry Writers' Guild Forum

The age-old topic... (via Ask Papabear)

All other considerations aside, this definition of “furry” seems both (1) hazy and (2) only questionably useful. For one – does Otters In Space count as furry? I wrote it before I knew about the furry fandom, but, then, after the fact, I very much joined the fandom. For two – does anyone really care whether an author is in the fandom or not?

Just to muddy the question even further – what if I rage quit the fandom? Would Otters In Space stop being furry? What if Kyell Gold rage quit the fandom? Would his books stop being furry? Do you have to go to conventions to be in the fandom? Use specific websites? What if an author called him/herself a furry but was lying to everyone and secretly didn’t self-identify as a furry? And, again, who cares?

I know what I care about – are there talking animals? Yes? Good. That’s as far as I care to look.

Talking animals are the win!

I love the use of ‘rage quit the fandom’ Ryffnah. XD Good points too.
